Trainee Representative Election 2019

Congratulations to Dr Guy Parsons who has been elected as the new FICM Deputy Trainee Representative.

His election statement was as follows:

If you trust me with your vote I will do all I can to improve your experience as a trainee. I have a strong track record of improving facilities, funding, and fairness for my colleagues by representing their concerns robustly at multiple levels.

As your Trainee Representative I will work hard to:

  • Reduce the administrative burden of training, including the portfolio system, so you can spend more of your training time doing just that.
  • Create a national platform highlighting the opportunities available to trainees for out of programme time and sub-specialty interests. I will endeavour to make these opportunities accessible to all, including those trainees working LTFT.
  • Promote the workplace facilities you need to stay healthy and rested in our demanding specialty. We can’t do the best for our patients if we can’t look after ourselves first.
  • Help drive innovation and modernization in our specialty to take advantage of new ways of working and learning that hold promise for the future.

Most of all I will represent your voice strongly and never shirk from advocating for your needs.

The appointment is for two years and will begin in January 2020, Dr Parsons will act as Deputy Trainee Rep for the first year and will then take over as Lead Trainee Rep in January 2021.

Thank you to all those who stood in the election, we hope that you will continue to support and contribute to the Faculty's many activities.
