Future Doctor Report published today

22 July 2020

Health Education England are pleased to announce that they have published their Future Doctor report today.

This co-created vision outlines the skills and attributes that medical professionals will require to deliver high quality care in an ever-changing healthcare landscape, and considers the implications for education and training. The Future Doctor Programme provides a view of what the NHS, patients and the public require from future doctors within a transformed multi-professional team. It explores the many challenges that will impact on the role of the doctor including changing patient expectations of the patient-doctor relationship and how artificial intelligence, genomics and technology will potentially change healthcare.

The report draws on the collective expertise of the healthcare and clinical education system, and was informed by regional workshops, led by the HEE postgraduate deans; a systematic literature review; a formal Call for Evidence; focus groups and national stakeholder events.
