Specialist Committee Member recruitment: Opportunities for ICM healthcare professionals
Opportunities to be a Specialist Committee member of the NICE Diagnostics Advisory Committee for the NephroCheck test.
The Diagnostics Assessment programme is now recruiting healthcare professionals to join the Diagnostics Advisory Committee as Specialist Committee members for the NephroCheck Test, with expertise in the following areas:
• Consultant in intensive care/critical care consultant
• Critical/intensive care nurse
• Consultant Nephrologist/Consultant Renal Physician
• Clinical Scientist or Biomedical Scientist (with an interest in acute kidney injury)
The NephroCheck test measures the level of 2 biomarkers (TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7) in urine to help assess the risk of moderate to severe acute kidney injury in people who are critically ill. This could lead to earlier identification of people who are at higher risk of acute kidney injury than in current practice, and allow earlier adoption of measures that could prevent progression to more severe kidney injury. This may reduce the length of time a person has to stay in hospital, avoid the need for temporary renal replacement therapy, reduce the risk of developing chronic kidney disease and decrease in-hospital mortality.
The NICE diagnostics assessment programme will assess the clinical and cost-effectiveness of the NephroCheck test (and any other alternative technologies identified during scoping) in order to make recommendations on its use in the NHS.
