Equivalence for Core Programmes
Intensive Care Medicine does not have its own core training but instead accepts trainees from the following programmes:
Acute Care Common Stream (Acute Medicine, Anaesthetic and Emergency Medicine)
Core Anaesthetic Training
Core Medical Training
Equivalence for these core programmes MUST be sought through the respective College’s process. The FICM does NOT manage equivalence to our parent College’s core programmes.
Anaesthetics (via CAT or ACCS)
This is managed by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Equivalence is managed via the Confirmation of Core Level Equivalence form, which can be accessed by clicking here.
Queries may be directed to the RCoA (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Emergency Medicine (via ACCS)
There is currently no equivalence accepted for core Emergency Medicine training. Any further questions should be directed to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.
Emergency Medicine (via DRE-EM)
The recruitment for DRE-EM is administered by Yorkshire and Humber deanery, click here to be redirected to their website.
As part of the recruitment process, Yorkshire & Humber verify that applicants meet the person specification before shortlisting for interview. So applicants applying for ICM from EM, who are on the DRE-EM stream, will have already had their competences reviewed.
Medicine (via CMT or ACCS)
This is managed by the Specialty Recruitment Office of the Royal College of Physicians and full information is available here:
The helpdesk inbox is available here: email@example.com.
