Currently 5 critical care practitioners, with a further 5 being appointed to accommodate an additional 8 ITU beds.
Our Medical Clinical Lead has developed a matrix in accordance with the Department of Health National Education and Competence Framework 2008 competencies for all trainees to follow. We use FICM documentation -DOPS, Minicex, CBD's, ACAT and case summaries and have appraisals every 6 months to set clear goals and objectives.
We are currently in the process of finalising a specific advanced critical care practitioner module with Keele University. This is being launched at the end of October and is open to all critical care practitioners. It is a 60 credit MSc module and can be taken as a stand-alone module or as part of the MSc programme for advancing professional practice - ACCP.
