On behalf of FICM’s Careers, Recruitment and Workforce Committee (FICMCRW), the Women in Intensive Care Medicine Sub-Committee (WICM), are just beginning a project to collect information on mentoring provisions for Intensivists, and whether there is any appetite for a Faculty-Led scheme in the future.
In order to gather data to help focus developments in this area, WICM have devised a short survey that we invite all of our fellows and members to complete; https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Mentorshipschemesurvey
This work is being undertaken by the WICM Sub-Committee under the direction of the Careers, Recruitment & Workforce Committee, as a lack of mentorship opportunities was raised as one potential barrier to female intensivists. However, WICM and CRW are interested in finding out about the mentoring landscape for all members, regardless of gender, as this is something that will benefit all members.
Your views, knowledge and experience would be greatly appreciated, if you do have the time please do complete the survey. The survey will remain open until Friday the 20th of December 2019.
The Women in Intensive Care Sub-committee will aim to provide regular updates on their work streams and ways in which you can get involved.
