Podcast: The Surgical Viewpoint on ICU
In this two-part podcast we speak to Mr Peter Coyne @petercoyne1982, a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in Newcastle with a special interest in advanced cancer and robotic surgery. Our first episode focusses on the viewpoint of the surgeon regarding patients on ICU. Areas of particular focus are who has ownership of their care? Who should know if there is a deterioration? How are decisions made when more than one specialty has a vested interest?
Mr Coyne is interviewed by one of our Podcast Leads Dr Gareth Thomas @garemlyn
Part 2 will cover common and serious complications affecting the general surgical patient on ICU and how to deal with them.
